Surviving the daily hassle of folding clothes is a challenge many people seek to overcome.
I bet that you hate folding clothes when you’re in a hurry, or when you have too many clothes to pack, or when you come home late at night and have to undress, yet keep the room tidy.
Whatever the situation you may find yourself into, this simple and ingenious method will help you fold and arrange your clothes in a blink of an eye…literally.
All it is required is a folding cardboard. This method is employed by retail stores all across the world because it saves precious seconds on each fold.
You won’t believe how easy and efficient this method is, so I have designed a DIY to help you out.
The Required Materials
Don’t get anxious, all you need is a simple cardboard and a roll of duct tape.
Let’s get to the specifics. In total you will need the following:
- Six pieces of ridged cardboard of at least 9 inches by 12 inches, all equal pieces
- Duct tape or any other tape variation
- A sharp kitchen knife or box cutter
- A ruler or yardstick for measurements
For the cardboard, you’ll be able to use mostly any box used for shipping. If you don’t have one deposited around your house, you can get one for free at any of your local stores.
The Method
Cut six square pieces of cardboard of same dimensions. These will be making up the base of your folding board.
Standard dimensions in department stores are 9 inches by 12 inches. If you need to adjust this for your custom-sized garb, simply fold a piece of clothing and adjust the dimensions of the cardboard based on that.
Now that you have unfolded your box, make the required measurements and draw lines till you have six equal rectangles.
Cut along the lines using the knife. Try to keep the lines as smooth and straight as possible.
Align the six pieces in a grid of three rows, just like the picture below shows.
Leave a gap between each of them of about a quarter inch. The opening’s purpose is to allow more flexibility when opening and folding the panel.
Tape the upper side of each panel on both back and front sides. Leave the bottom as is.
Your folding board should now be ready for practical use.
How to Use
I bet you are excited to try this and see if it really works as described. Here are the steps:
- Put a piece of clothing facing down to the center of your board.
- Grab one of the sides and fold it over and back.
- Do the same with the other side.
- Now it’s time to fold the bottom-center panel up and back.
That’s basically it. If you did this simple DIY correctly, then you should now have the means and ability to fold clothes in a blink of an eye.
If you find it useful, don’t forget to share this method with your friends to make their day better by saving them precious time.
